Pharmacy recalls
The RMI is delighted to see the Ministry of Health is
conducting a review of pharmacy recalls and is very supportive of this
process. Minister of Health Tony Ryall announced the review on 3
June, which is being undertaken by MoH and will include seeking input from
appropriate people in the sector. An external advisor has been appointed to
assist with the review and the Director General of Health will advise the
Government of the review’s findings.
The RMI has
received comments from members and will be making a submission on 23rd
June.
RMI expects
an outcome at the end of June.

Pharmacists
Prescribing
The Pharmacy
Council is currently consulting about a proposal to extend prescriber
rights to pharmacists which may be of benefit to the medicines industry if
the Council is able to ensure adequate training and safety measures are in
place. However we note that the Council also includes the possibility of
pharmacists prescribing controlled drugs.
The
consultation closes on 6 July 2010.
RMI members
who would like their views included in the RMI’s submission on this are
reminded to contact ksheehy@rmianz.co.nz
urgently.

consultation document click here. Further information and annexes are
